AI Agent

An AI agent is a software program that uses artificial intelligence to work toward a goal on its own - deciding what steps to take and acting on them without being told each move.

What AI Agent means

Where a normal program follows a fixed script, an AI agent is given an objective and works out how to reach it. It can break the goal into steps, use tools like search or email, check its own progress, and adjust as it goes.

Imagine asking an assistant to "sort through new customer emails and reply to the simple ones." An AI agent reads each message, decides which ones it can handle, drafts a reply, and flags the rest for a human - all without you guiding every action.

Why AI Agent matters

AI agents are the core building block of practical, no-code AI work. Learning to build them lets you hand off repetitive tasks instead of just speeding them up.

Agents can run tasks like research, follow-up, and reporting with little supervision
Modern no-code tools let you build agents visually, without programming
Building agents is a future-ready skill in growing demand across roles and industries
It is the central skill in any hands-on AI training, including Jobescape

Frequently asked questions

A chatbot mainly answers questions in conversation. An AI agent goes further - it can plan multiple steps, use tools, and take actions to complete a goal, not just reply.
